The Vision
The Family Farm is a vision of sustainable farming, environmental enhancement and allowing people who don’t otherwise have access to a farm to reconnect with nature and the cycles of farming life. Through the Family Farm you can restore ecosystems by funding the planting of native trees and be part of the journey, converting a traditional beef and sheep station to a model of sustainability using knowledge of organics, biodynamics, permaculture and biological agriculture. We will be working with research organisations, Farmers and the HB Regional Council People who care about the environment and the way food is produced and want to reduce the impact of climate change are invited to invest $100 to become a member of the Family Farm. For this investment we will plant a group of five native trees (you are welcome to help plant). You will join the family farm community, which is working to become a model of sustainable land management. We encourage you to feel ownership in this project and to keep in contact with us. Although the farm is a business which supports our family, financial gain is not our focus. Any profits generated through “the family farm” concept will be invested in environmental projects, education and creating access opportunities for youth to the farm and promoting sustainability in New Zealand agriculture. We are passionate about seeing this vision become a reality and excited about the opportunity to make a difference in the world, while sharing the journey with others who want to create change for a better future.
