THE 9th ANNUAL HORSESHOE LAKE
KIDS 2011 TRIATHLON
Time to get a team together for the Horseshoe Lake Triathlon.
So all you kids, Mum's, Dad's amd Whanau get running, cycling and kayaking and join in the fun!
Grab a team of three of tackle on your own - lets have some fun!
WHAT: Juniors - 1.2 km Run, 2 km Mountain Bike, 500m Kayak
Seniors & Adults - 2 km Run, 2 km Mountain Bike, 600m Kayak
WHEN: Saturday 29 October 2011.
WHERE: HORSESHOE LAKE, 298 MANGARARA RD, PATANGATA. Click here for the location map.
WHO: A team of three (1 discipline each), a team of two, or individuals to complete the whole course. There will be three age groups:
- Junior 8 -10 yrs
- Senior 11-13 yrs (Primary/Intermediate school children only)
- Parents/adults race! (High School age and above)
PROGRAMME: 11.30am – Kayak training for those that need it
1.00pm – Briefing
1.15pm – Races start
3.00pm - Prize giving
EQUIPMENT PROVIDED: KAYAKS, PADDLES and BUOYANCY VESTS. However if your own a ‘sit-on-top’ Kayak, please bring it along with buoyancy vest, paddle etc.
ENTER: Either ONLINE, or contact us up to 28 October 2011.
Entry form must be signed/approved by a parent/guardian.
BRING:
- MOUNTAIN BIKE – must be ROAD SAFE (biking on farm track, road bikes unsuitable)
- HELMET - for the cycle ride.
- FOOTWEAR – suitable for running on gravel road & must be worn by all competitors, cyclist & kayakers included.
KAYAK TRAINING: There will be a kayak training session prior to the race at 11.30am for those that need it. A team from Kiwi Adventure Co will be running this.
POSTPONEMENTS: Please listen to, or phone, Central FM at 9am for the cancellation or postponement.
SAFTEY SAFETY SAFETY:
All precautions are being taken to ensure the safety of competitors.
- Trained staff will be on course.
- The kayaking course is adjacent to land in a sheltered position.
- No vehicle access through the course during the races. Be there before 1.00pm.
- Helmets & shoes for the bike ride, buoyancy vest for kayak, must be worn.
- A qualified nurse will be on site.
- Professional kayak training will be offered at the training session on race day.
- All children must be well supervised at all times by either their parents or caregivers due to the Lakes close proximity.
COMMUNITY B.B.Q.
The Elsthorpe School PAFS will be running a B.B.Q fundraiser for all spectators, sponsors and competitors. Everyone is welcome to come for lunch and enjoy the event and beautiful surrounds of Horseshoe Lake. CLICK HERE to complete entry form.
