Two Tier Farming We plan to experiment with ways of planting legume trees on rolling pasture land. This approach will achieve the following benefits -
- Improve nutrient cycling in the soil by the deeper tree roots and fixing Nitrogen in the soil
- Planted at a density to achieve certification as a Kyoto Forest for Carbon Sequestration
- Shade and shelter for livestock
- Foliage or pods could be used as fodder for livestock
- Ultimately have a value as timber
- Beautification
- Deciduous so stock can still graze between and below trees
